Presiden Prabowo: Tariff Indonesia-Uni Eropa Hampirnya Seluruhnya 0 Persen
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto stated that the tariff for goods imported from the European Union and Indonesia is almost entirely 0 percent so that both parties are ready to immediately implement a comprehensive economic agreement (CEPA) which is scheduled to be signed in September 2025.
"So we already have a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) agreement between Indonesia and the European Union, which will actually become a free market agreement. Almost all of our tariffs have been completed, almost all of them are 0 percent of us," said President Prabowo in response to reporters' questions when met in Brussels, Belgium, Sunday, July 13, as quoted by Antara.
The President then emphasized that the CEPA between Indonesia and the European Union was also a strategic collaboration, and a breakthrough in relations between the two parties.
"European markets are very large. The population is 460 million more, the total GDP (gross domestic product, ed.) is very large, their trade is also very large. So this is Alhamdulillah a historic event," said President Prabowo.
President Prabowo announced that the CEPA Indonesia and the European Union negotiations were completed when a press conference with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at the European Commission Office, Berlaymont Building, Brussels, Sunday. Indonesia and the European Union have negotiated to discuss the points of CEPA cooperation for approximately 10 years.
"Today we succeeded in making a breakthrough, after 10 years of negotiations, we completed a comprehensive economic agreement (CEPA), which is essentially a free market agreement. We have agreed on many, many agreements, which in essence we will accommodate each other's economic interests, and we find these interests benefit each other," President Prabowo said at a press conference.
