Mahathir Mohamad Was Treated For Fatigue After Celebrating His 100th Birthday

JAKARTA - Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad was rushed to the hospital due to exhaustion, his office said on Sunday today, just days after his 100th birthday on Thursday, July 10.

In a statement quoted by Anadolu, Mahathir had undergone observations at the Kuala Lumpur National Heart Institute (IJN).

However, after receiving treatment and resting, the senior Malaysian figure was allowed to go home.

Mahathir is known to have a history of heart problems and has undergone bypass surgery several times. In recent years, he has also been hospitalized several times. Finally, he was treated in October last year due to respiratory tract infections.

This important figure in Malaysia's political history served as prime minister for 24 years in two non-sequence periods.

He returned to leadership in 2018 after the opposition coalition victory, but his government only lasted less than two years due to internal conflict.

Mahathir became the oldest leader in the world when he returned as prime minister at the age of 93.

Despite entering the age of a century, he is still actively conveying his views and being involved in national political discussions.
