Reece James Ready To Bring Chelsea To A Surprise In The 2025 Club World Cup Final
JAKARTA - Chelsea defender and captain Reece James expressed confidence that his team could be a surprise in the 2025 Club World Cup final against Paris Saint Germain (PSG).
The final will be held at the MetLife Stadium, United States, Monday, July 14 at 02.00 WIB. Both teams came with their respective champions, PSG as Champions League champions and Chelsea as UEFA Conference League champions.
Speaking ahead of the game, Reece James insists that superior status or statistics will not mean much in the final match.
"Stateistics, data, favorite team, not favorite, don't have a meaningful meaning for me and this team. It just makes one team feel happy," Reece James said, quoted from the club's official website, Sunday, July 13.
According to James, PSG did have an extraordinary season. However, Chelsea has also performed well throughout this season, especially with the success of winning European trophies.
"This is a meeting of two great teams with a composition of young players who will compete all out on the world stage," he continued.
He added that the main key in a match like this is not a statistical record, but a competing mentality.
"We expect a tight match, don't get me wrong, they are an amazing team, but we are also an amazing team and I think we will surprise a lot of people," said the Chelsea academy dropout.
