Drones, Cyber, And Russian Pharmacy Make Saudi Arabia Interested

JAKARTA - Saudi Arabia is showing interest in a number of Russian leading industrial sectors, including cybersecurity, pharmacology, medical equipment, and drone systems.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia, Bandar Ibrahim Alkhrayef, while attending the 2025 Innoprom International Industry Exhibition in Yekaterinburg, Russia.

In a bilateral meeting that took place at the event, Alkhrayef met face-to-face with Russian Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov and Russian Natural Resources Minister Alexander Kozlov.

The international-scale exhibition was held on July 7, 2025 and made Saudi Arabia a partner country.

Cybersecurity is one of Russia's most advanced industrial sectors. There are leading companies from Russia that have been and are still working in our kingdom," Alkhrayef said in an interview with RIA Novosti quoted on Sunday, July 13.

He also mentioned a number of other strategic sectors that are considered to have the potential for strong cooperation with Saudi Arabia, such as metalurgy, pharmaceuticals, medical device technology, and drone systems.

"There are many opportunities that can be explored. I am sure that my colleagues who participated in the Saudi Arabian delegation at the Innoprom exhibition will return to Indonesia with many ideas," he said.

As the official partner of this year's exhibition, Saudi Arabia presents a national pavilion featuring various superior products, strategic industrial companies, and portfolios of cross-sector investment opportunities.

The Saudi Arabian government itself is expanding its global partnership in the technology and manufacturing sector as part of economic transformation within the framework of Vision 2030. Interest in Russian technology is considered in line with the growing needs of Saudi Arabia's domestic industry, particularly in terms of defense, health, and digitalization.
