The Practice Of Buying And Selling School Seats In Jakarta Is Claimed To Be No Longer Easy To Do
JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission E of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Muhammad Thamrin assessed that the practice of buying and selling "curses" or registering students through illegal channels in Jakarta is no longer easy to do. Because, according to him, the New Student Admission System (SPMB) is currently running transparently.
Thamrin admitted that he had not found a case of buying and selling seats in Jakarta public schools in the 2025/2026 school year which could be clearly proven.
"The selection process is based on digital systems and centralized, so that it can minimize the potential for intervention or manipulative practices. With this system, the possibility of buying and selling seats under the authority of the Education Office can be said to be very small," Thamrin told reporters, Sunday, July 13.
However, there are other things that need attention. Prevention of the case of buying and selling chairs does not necessarily run optimally in educational institutions that are under the authority of other agencies, such as the Ministry of Religion.
In religious education units, potential irregularities can occur if they are not closely monitored. So, according to Thamrin, the government must be able to anticipate various forms of irregularities in the field.
"This includes monitoring and evaluation based on a transparent information technology system that can be accessed by the public, and monitored independently," he explained.

Furthermore, the community also needs to be involved in its supervision. If residents find irregularities or irregularities, there must be a safe, responsive, and open reporting space and mechanism.
"In the current era of social media, the speed of information is an opportunity for the government to show its commitment to following up on public reports," added Thamrin.
