JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts light rain will flush most of the provincial capital areas in Indonesia today, Sunday, July 13.

BMKG forecaster Zen Putri said, starting from Sumatra Island, light rain is forecasted in the areas of Banda Aceh, Medan, and Pekanbaru.

"Be aware of rain that can be accompanied by lightning in the cities of Padang and Tanjung Pinang," he said on the BMKG Youtube channel, confiscated by Antara.

Still on the island of Sumatra, light rain is forecast for the Jambi, Palembang, and Bandar Lampung areas, while people in Bengkulu and Pangkal Pinang cities are asked to be aware of thunderstorms.

Turning to Java, the weather is predicted to be thick cloudy in the city of Surabaya, while light rain has the potential for Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, and Yogyakarta areas.

Moving to the areas of Bali and Nusa Tenggara, the weather is predicted to be cloudy in Denpasar City, thick cloudy in Mataram City, and light rain in the Kupang City area.

Furthermore, shifting to Kalimantan Island, the weather is predicted to be cloudy in Banjarmasin, thick cloudy in Samarinda, as well as light rain in the Samarinda area.

"Be aware of thunderstorms that can occur in Tanjung Selor and Pontianak," said Putri.

Then for Sulawesi Island, the weather is forecasted to be thick cloudy in Makassar and Gorontalo, as well as light rain in the areas of Manado, Palu, Mamuju, and Kendari.

Moving to eastern Indonesia, light rain is predicted in the areas of Ternate, Ambon, Sorong, Manokwari, and Jayawijaya.

"Meanwhile, the cities of Nabire, Jayapura, and Merauke are forecasted to rain with moderate intensity," he said.

Putri also conveyed that the potential for an increase in wind speed to reach more than 25 knots is predicted to occur in the waters north of Aceh, the western Indian Ocean of Sumatra, the southwest Indian Ocean of Banten, and the southern Indian Ocean of West Nusa Tenggara.

Then, in the Timor Sea and Arafura Sea, it is also able to increase the wave height in these areas.

In addition, BMKG also warned of the potential for tidal flooding that could occur on the coasts of the Riau Islands, Jambi, Bangka Belitung Islands, Banten, DKI Jakarta, Central Java, East Java, NTB, NTT, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Maluku, and South Papua.
