Leading Tipis On The Finis Line, Jonathan Milan Wins Etape Eighth Tour De France
JAKARTA - Jonathan Milan won the eighth stage of Tour de France 2025 after a narrow lead over Wourt van Aert and Kaden Groves on the finish line at Laval, Saturday 12 July
Citing Antara, in etape for pure and unchangeable sprinter specialists at the top of the general standings, the Lidl-Trek racer became the first Italian athlete to win in the Tour de France since Vincenzo Nibali did the same in the Alps in 2019.
The 24-year-old pure sprinter is now leading the sprint points standings and wearing a green shirt. He replaced the previous owner of the green shirt, Tadej Pogacar, who holds both a green and a yellow shirt as the leader of the standings after winning the seventh stage.
Three-time Tour de France champions Pogacar are still leading the standings, followed by Remco Evenepoel and Kevin Vauquelin in second and third positions. There is no change in the top ten because the peloton plays safe throughout the day.
A total of 177 racers out of a total of 184 participants still survive and cross the rural Brittany, which is surrounded by spectators along the route.
In the race under the hot conditions, there were not many acts of overtaking or trying to leave the peloton until the end of the race.
The French racer duo, Mathieu Burgaudeau and Matteo Vercher, carried out attacks from a distance of 70 km and were only caught on the outskirts of Laval's finish.
