Construction Section 4 Of The Kuala Tanjung Toll Road High Cliffs Parapat Targeted To Be Completed In Quarter III-2025

The Ministry of Public Works (PU) continues to accelerate the completion of the Kuala Tanjung Toll Road, Tebing Tinggi Parapat, in order to improve regional connectivity and support the tourism sector in North Sumatra, especially towards the Lake Toba tourism area.

One of the sections currently in the final stages of development is Section 4 Serbelawan 'Pematang, with the rest of the work at the Sinaksak Interchange Segment (SS) Pematang Siantar. The 12.3 kilometer long project is targeted for completion in the third quarter of 2025.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said that the presence of toll roads is expected to have a multiplier effect in encouraging economic growth, especially areas traversed by toll roads as well as increasing travel time efficiency and reducing transportation costs.

"Because it is expected to cut travel time between regions in the logistics sector, it is hoped that it will encourage the growth of new economic centers," said Dody in a written statement, Saturday, July 12.

In detail, the Kuala Tanjung Tebing Tinggi Toll Road has a total of six sections, including Section 1 Tebing Tinggi Indrapura with a length of 22.85 kilometers, which operates simultaneously with the Tebing Tinggi junction of 7 kilometers. Then, Section 2 of Indrapura Kuala Tanjung along 15.6 kilometers has been operating.

Next, Section 4 of Serbelawan 'Pematang Siantar' along 28 kilometers. Previously, 15.63 kilometers of them had been operating, namely Section 4 Dolok Merawan' Sinaksak.

However, for the Sinaksak 'Pematang Siantar segment, the progress has now reached 99.19 percent and is currently undergoing the Road Safety Audit (AKJ) process as part of the final design agreement.

With the completion of this segment, the length of the Kuala Tanjung' Tebing Tinggi operational toll road will increase, strengthening connectivity in the North Sumatra region from the west side to the strategic area of Lake Toba.

Then, there is Section 5 Pematang Siantar' Seribudolok and Section 6 Seribudolok' Parapat which is government support which is still in the stage of determining the route.

As a form of support for local identity and tourism, the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) also installed local ornaments at toll gates (GT). For example, GT Sinaksak displays buffalo head ornaments as a symbol of Simalungun Regency, while GT Dolok Against being decorated with Malay ornaments.

"This toll road is expected to drive regional growth and facilitate the flow of goods and community mobility as well as open access to economic and tourism centers, especially the Lake Toba area," concluded Dody.
