East Kalimantan Provincial Government Builds Collaboration To Strengthen Agricultural Vocational Education

SAMARINDA - The Provincial Government of East Kalimantan (East Kalimantan Provincial Government) strengthens its commitment to developing human resources (HR) through vocational education, especially in the agricultural sector through collaboration with a number of parties, one of which is the Swantantra Pangan Nusantara Foundation.

"We really appreciate the extraordinary contribution of the Swantantra Pangan Nusantara Foundation to support agricultural vocational education at one of the Vocational Schools in East Kalimantan. This is a concrete step in increasing human resources in this area," said Deputy Governor of East Kalimantan Seno Aji while attending the handover of 50 laptops and a number of goats from the Swantantra Pangan Nusantara Foundation to SMK Al Jabal Nur Samboja, Kutai Kartanegara, Saturday.

Seno Aji emphasized that the East Kalimantan Provincial Government has a "Kaltim Sukses Towards the Golden Generation" vision, which is realized through a free education program. This program includes Single Lecture Money (UKT) for undergraduate, master's degree, and doctoral education students, as well as free Education Development Donations (SPP) for vocational, public high school, and private students throughout East Kalimantan.

He highlighted the seriousness of Al Jabal Nur's vocational school in agriculture and livestock. He hopes that East Kalimantan children can return to the agriculture and livestock sectors without shame.

"The current farmer's profession is very promising, with the price of unhulled rice reaching Rp. 6,500 per kilogram," he added.

In an effort to achieve food self-sufficiency in East Kalimantan in 2026, the East Kalimantan Pem, and provincial governments have distributed various agricultural aids, ranging from fertilizers to modern agricultural tools such as tractors, vocational education.

Seno Aji asked the East Kalimantan Food, Food Crops and Horticulture Office to actively provide training to Al Jabal Nur vocational students, ensuring optimal utilization of the assistance.

"We want our children not to be ashamed to be farmers or breeders. They must be able to contribute to realizing rice self-sufficiency in East Kalimantan," he said.
