Unpad Affirms Dental Hospital Is Not Included In The Flats Development Plan In Sekeloa

JAKARTA - Padjadjaran University (Unpad) revealed that their Gigi and Mouth Hospital (RSGM) in Sekeloa Bandung was not included in the plan to build flats (Rusun) for lecturers, employees, and the community at that location.

Unpad Chancellor Prof. Arief S Kartasasmita said his party provided about 4.000 square meters of land which is now standing in student dormitories and is empty, located right across from the RSGM complex which will soon be converted into a public hospital.

"Not including yes. But this (RSGM) in the future will be converted into a public hospital," said Arief in Bandung, Saturday.

This change itself, said Arief, is because in Law Number 17 of 2023, it mandates that there will be no more special hospitals.

"So all public hospitals. And this will still serve the community. Of course later we will find a solution so that public access is easy to come here," he said.

The Sekeloa area, said Arief, has a state land area of 10 hectares which is entrusted to be managed by Unpad, but 80 percent of it has established housing for residents.

Meanwhile, Unpad Flats which are intended for lecturers, employees, local communities and even students, he continued, were chosen on land that is now managed by Unpad, namely on 4,000 square meters of land where student dormitories are now standing.

"What we are using is those who don't have a society, yes, those 4,000 or about 130x40 meters so we don't displace them. Meanwhile, we will see in the future we don't know yet," he said.

Due to the condition of the prospective land for the Unpad Flats, the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait, who visited the location on Friday evening until evening, asked Arief to immediately submit a proposal and fulfill the development requirements considering the status of state-owned land, and has also now become a densely populated residential area.

Arief said that currently his party is making various preparations for submitting proposals for the construction of flats as soon as possible to the Ministry of PKP and coordinating with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) for the use of existing land.

"There are still many challenges, but the Minister has given directions so that as soon as possible we can process, assisted by the ministry, hopefully, we can submit the proposal to the ministry for not too long and we will see what will be approved and recommended by the ministry," he said.
