Google Use Gemini On Woolaroo Platform To Preserve Endangered Languages
JAKARTA Google updated Woolaroo, an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based platform designed to preserve language. The platform is now using Gemini to expand its language context.
Gemini's addition to Woolaroo will provide more in-depth information and context. This helps users understand the value and uniqueness of each language, in line with Google's commitment to supporting the preservation of the world's linguistic heritage.
Google says language is very important to be preserved. What's more, based on the company's data, nearly 40 percent of the 7,000 languages in the world are threatened with extinction. Therefore, platforms like Woolaroo are needed.
By utilizing AI technology, Woolaroo was developed by Google Arts and Culture with a number of global partners who provide translational data and audio recordings. Thanks to this partnership, Woolaroo managed to add a new language.

This year, the platform presents 10 new languages from Africa and a number of languages from Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, and Scotland. Not only adding languages, but Google also includes brief information about languages and communities that can be learned.
To learn endangered languages on the platform, users only need to take pictures of objects around them. After that, vocabulary from the language you want to learn will appear on the screen.
