Deputy Minister Of Education And Technology Stella Christie Review Garuda's Featured High School Location In Tanjung Selor
TANJUNG SELOR Deputy Minister (Wamen) of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Diktisaintek), Stella Christie, accompanied by Assistant for Government and People's Welfare of the North Kalimantan Provincial Secretariat, Datu Iqro Ramadhan, visited the construction site of the Garuda Superior High School in Tanjung Selor City.
The Deputy Minister of Education and Technology wants to confirm the location for the construction of the Garuda Superior High School which is planned to be built in the Kota Baru Mandiri (KBM) area and Pesawan area, Tanjung Selor, Bulungan Regency.
He said one of the four locations is in a hilly area not far from the Kaltara DPRD office as the most ideal and ready location.
"There were four locations proposed by the Provincial Government (Pemprov Kaltara), initially not the main location proposed, but after we saw it firsthand, that's where the most promising readiness is. We ask that the location be considered," said Stella Christie, Friday, July 11.
Stella assesses that the location next to the Kaltara DPRD office is very strategic and representative to support the development of superior schools that integrate educational facilities, dormitories, and other supporting facilities.
"This program is part of national priority and is in line with the big vision of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, to build superior human resources throughout Indonesia, especially areas that have great potential like North Kalimantan," said Stella.
He explained that Garuda's flagship high school will adopt a high standard curriculum, modern facilities, and meritocracy-based management.
"In this excellent school, the best students will be prepared to continue their education to well-known universities, both domestically and abroad," he explained.
Meanwhile, Datu Iqro emphasized that his party fully supports this program.
"The existence of Garuda's flagship high school will be an important milestone in producing the young generation of North Kalimantan who excel and are globally competitive," said Datu Iqra.
"Moreover, Kaltara does not yet have an excellent school. The presence of this Astacita program, we see it as a golden opportunity. The 20 percent quota is prioritized for regional children. Graduates of this school will be sent to study abroad to the world's best universities," he continued.
Datu Iqro revealed that one of the locations with a great opportunity to be selected in the construction of the Unggulan High School is in the KBM area, right next to the Kaltara Provincial DPRD Building.
"There is a land area of 5 hectares which is planned to be intended for school buildings and teachers' housing. Meanwhile, on the other side, there are 15 hectares of area prepared for the development of sports facilities and other supporters," he said.
He said the provincial government ensured land preparation and collaborated with the Ministry of Education and Technology for recruitment and teaching staff training. This series of reviews is the basis for final decision making regarding the determination of the location and the start of the construction process.
"The government targets the groundbreaking process to be carried out no later than the end of 2025. It is hoped that Garuda's flagship high school in Kaltara will be able to receive first-generation students in the 2027/2028 school year," he said.
