5.6 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Southwest Fakfak West Papua

JAKARTA - An earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitudes occurred in Fakfak Regency, West Papua, on Saturday morning at 03:09 WIB.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that the epicenter was 131 kilometers southwest of Fakfak.

Quoting Antara, the coordinates of the earthquake were at 4.24 South Latitude (LS), and 132.71 East Longitude (BT) with a depth of 65 kilometers.

Meanwhile, BMKG said the earthquake had no potential for a tsunami.

BMKG asks the public to be careful of aftershocks that may occur.
