5 Months Selling Antigen Test Kits Without Distribution Permits In Central Java, Health Store Employees Reaping Profits Of Rp. 2.8 Billion
JATENG - The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Central Java Regional Police (Jateng) has uncovered the case of the circulation of an antigen rapid test kit that does not have a distribution permit. One perpetrator with the initials SPM (34) was arrested in this case.
"SPM (34) is an employee of a medical equipment store based in Jakarta," said Head of Police Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi during his case at the Ditreskrimsus office of Central Java Regional Police, Semarang, reported by Antara, Wednesday, May 5.
The evidence that was secured from the suspect included 245 boxes each containing 25 units of the Clungene brand antigen rapid test kit, 121 boxes of Hightop brand antigen test kits, 10 boxes of saliva antigen rapid test kits, and 5,900 unlicensed swab sticks. .
The arrest of the suspect was made after the police received information about the rampant sales of medical devices in the form of unlicensed antigen rapid tests.
"Based on this information, the police then carried out an undercover buy and finally succeeded in arresting the suspect," he said.
The Regional Police Chief revealed that the suspect had marketed the antigen rapid test kit without permission in the Central Java area from October 2020 to February 2021.
"The five-month gross income received by the suspect reached Rp. 2.8 billion," said the Head of Police who was accompanied by the Criminal Investigation Unit, Kombes Kombes Ronald Simamora.
In order to be accountable for his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 197 and Article 106 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 36 of 2009 concerning Health, as well as Article 62 of RI Law No.8 / 1999 on Consumer Protection with the threat of a prison sentence of 15 years,
