Bad News From Aceh, Public Transport May Not Operate From May 6-17

JAKARTA - Aceh Police Traffic Director Kombes Dicky Sondani said all public transportation should not operate following the government's ban on going home.

"Starting tomorrow, May 6-17, there will be no more public transportation operating out of Aceh or to Aceh," said Kombes Dicky Sondani in Banda Aceh, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, May 5.

Kombes Dicky Sondani said that his party told all public transport operators not to operate their fleets during the time determined by the government.

However, said Kombes Dicky Sondani, there are also public transportation allowed to operate such as in an emergency to bring sick people, some who die and other urgent matters.

Then, public transportation that does not carry passengers is not homecoming. This public transportation is equipped with stickers and the passengers and crew carry an antigen test letter.

"Public transportation entering Aceh is checked at four entrances to Aceh Province, in Aceh Tamiang, Southeast Aceh, Aceh Singkil, and Subulussalam City. For those who do not meet the requirements, they are ordered to make a U-turn," said Kombes Pol Dicky Sondani.

The former Head of the Public Relations Division of the South Sulawesi Regional Police said public transportation was not allowed to operate within that time frame to anticipate the occurrence of community homecoming.

"The government has issued a ban on going home. For Aceh, the governor has emphasized that it follows central government policies. So, it is clear that no homecoming is allowed. This is done by the government to suppress the spread of COVID-19," said Kombes Dicky Sondani.
