FIGC Approved Requests For AC Milan Vs Como Match To Be Held In Australia
JAKARTA - Serie A's partnership between AC Milan and Como has the potential to be the first major European league match to be played outside of its home country.
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) gave the green light on Thursday, July 10, 2025, local time, to host the match in Perth, Australia.
The shift in this location is more due to Olympic logistics than commercial ambitions because Milan's iconic San Siro Stadium will not be available on match day.
You see, San Siro will host the opening ceremony of the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics on February 6, 2026.

Previously, requests to hold domestic league matches abroad were rejected by the authorities.
"The Federal Council has given a positive opinion on Serie A's request to play Milan vs Como at Perth."
"This will bring things closer to what will be a historic journey abroad for a Serie A match," the FIGC said in a statement.
However, the FIGC warns that a complicated authorization procedure still requires official approval from Football Australia, UEFA, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and the FIFA before the historic match can begin at Down Under.
