Central Sulawesi OJK: Beware Of Illegal Loans Using Eid Moments

JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) urges residents of Central Sulawesi Province to be aware of offers of fintech lending or online loan services (pinjol) and illegal investments that take advantage of the momentum ahead of Eid.

"Offers by this illegal investment loan service still appear in the public. Towards Eid al-Fitr with the increasing needs of the community, public awareness must be increased so as not to become victims," said the Head of OJK Central Sulawesi Gamal, as reported by Antara, Thursday, May 6.

He said his team always try to remind citizen that before utilizing online loan service and trying the investment, we should comprehend the legality or a permit from the company and see the logic of the profit offered at a fair value.

Moreover, before Eid, people get holiday allowances (THR) so they are expected not to place the THR funds on illegal investment offers.

"Currently there are some entities admitting that the permit and legality are "clear and clean" from the OJK Investment Alert Task Force (SWI). We emphasize that the OJK SWI has nothing to do with managing permits or legality of business activities," he said.

Therefore, he continued, the public was asked not to participate in company activities that carry the name of SWI in its marketing.

If you find loan and investment activities that have the potential to harm the public, you can immediately contact the Central Sulawesi OJK at the Central Sulawesi OJK Office in Palu

"SWI OJK will continue to carry out routine cyber patrols which frequency will continue to be increased in line with still many findings of loans and illegal investment offers through various communication technology channels in the community," he added.
