Minister Of Transportation Regarding The Jakarta-Surabaya High Speed Train: Can Continue As Long As You Don't Use The State Budget
JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi opened his voice regarding the fate of the Jakarta-Surabaya high-speed rail project. He said the government did plan to continue construction until Surabaya.
"That there is a desire to propagate. Yes, there is a suggestion that we continue from Bandung to Surabaya," he told reporters, in Jakarta, written Thursday, July 10.
Dudy also claimed to have offered several potential investors for the development of the project. Some of the options offered include continuing the route from Bandung to Surabaya, or assisting new routes from Jakarta directly to Surabaya with a semi-fast train system.
"Indeed there is profiteering, however, it must go through a careful study. Because on several occasions we offer semi-fast," he said.
However, Dudy said, there has been no final decision regarding the continuation of the project. Even so, he said, this project could be continued as long as it did not use the state budget (APBN).
"Our hope is that both fast and semi-fast do not use the state budget," he said.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation Allan Tandiono revealed that the ongoing study is still related to the path to which the high-speed train will pass.

According to him, the government is also open about which lanes will be built for this high-speed rail project. Currently, there is an option for high-speed trains to run on the railroad tracks for the semi-fast.
"Whether from Jakarta to Bandung is already high speed and continued mid speed. Everything is discussed in the feasibility study," said Allan.
However, Allan said, which path decision is used depending on the investors who will finance this project.
"We have introduced this to investors, they will decide later. This will also see a feasibility study first. We will see technically whether it is good," he said.
