BYD Seal 05 DM-i Assembled Thailand Ready To Send To Customers Early Next Month

JAKARTA - A well-known automotive manufacturer from China, BYD announced that it had started sending the Seal 05 DM-i model assembled in Thailand in early August.

This is a concrete step implemented by the manufacturer in expanding the line of environmentally friendly vehicles as well as inaugurating the sale of its first segment B Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) car in the white elephant country.

Reporting from CarNewsChina, Thursday, July 10, this sedan-shaped car began production at BYD's Rayong factory, Thailand. The facility has also just celebrated its milestone by sending the 910,000th New Energy Vehicle (NEV).

The construction of the Rayong factory cost an investment of 35 billion Baht Thailand covering an area of 948,000 square meters with an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles.

This includes four main manufacturing processes for vehicles as well as a factory devoted to the manufacture of spare parts. This building is known to have localized three models in Thailand.

BYD Seal 05 DM-i is a compact sedan that carries the design philosophy of BYD Ocean such as its brother, Seal and Sealion 7. This car has a length of 4,780 mm, a width of 1,837 mm, a height of 1,515 mm, and a wheelbase of up to 2,718 mm.

Carrying plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology, Seal 05 DM-i carries a 1.5 liter engine with a maximum power of 99 hp and an electric motor with a maximum power of up to 161 hp.

The drive is combined with a choice of 7.68 kWh of batteries and 15.898 kWh of LFP which is claimed to provide a pure electric range of 43 km and 90 km each in full charging.

According to BYD, this sedan has a low fuel consumption of 2.95L/100 km and can provide a comprehensive distance of 2,000 km in a state of gasoline and full disbursement tanks.
