These Two Volvo SUVs Come With Armored Protecters, Safe Users From Gunshots
JAKARTA - For a long time, automotive manufacturers from Sweden Volvo have been known to have the ability to design security and safety systems on vehicles.
Now, the brand nicknamed the Swedish Tank launched the latest features on its two models, namely XC60 and XC90, which are fitted with steel coating directly from the factory. In addition, both are offered in plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology.
Launching from InsideEVs, Thursday, July 10, Volvo is trying to make these two SUVs have the same driving skills as the standard version, but weighing heavier because of the package.
Volvo gave the package to the T8 variant XC90. With this device, this SUV can get a weight of 320 kg heavier than its standard version. In addition, the baggage is provided smaller than 650 liters to 623 liters.
To make this car has a layer of steel, the process begins by building a regular car. Then, the vehicle is dismantled and scanned with a 3D Scanner. These scanning results are then used to make a special steel-coated component that can be integrated into the original structure without reducing the appearance of the car.
Some of these coaters have an aramid material or the same material as used in PLANt vests. These components are used around the car and roof. Not only that, Volvo also strengthens its chassis and braking is more powerful and 20-inch rims are intended for heavy work.
All windows are replaced with reinforced steel-coated glass, so as not to interfere with any safety features. The rear glass cannot be opened in order to strengthen its safety element.

According to Volvo, this armored car has been ballistically certified according to NIJ IIIA standards combined with VPAM 2009. Car manufacturers themselves claim that they are the only one in the industry that meets both standards on car assembly in factories.
The rest, both of them are still equipped with the same standard features as their regularity such as sensors, radar, and cameras as normal.
In XC90 T8, this car is still equipped by a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine combined with plug-in hybrid technology (PHEV) which has a power of 455 hp and a peak torque of 709 Nm.
Due to its heavier weight, the SUV has a 3 km shorter electric range than its standard version to 67 km in one full energy charge.
There is no official information on vehicle prices yet but Volvo says it complies with international rules in which all customers who will purchase Volvo armored vehicles will undergo sanctions checks and reviews to ascertain whether licenses are required for ultimate purposes or use.
