The Head Of The KPU Spoke About The Ballot Box And Election Ink Ahead Of The 2020 Regional Elections
BANYUMAS - KPU Chairman Arief Budiman recalled the question of the 2019 Election ballot box which received negative sentiments from various circles. Even though this polemic has passed for months, he is still confused that the use of the ballot box he designed could get rejected.
The ballot boxes for the 2019 Election have received resistance because the material is made of thick cardboard or cardboard. According to Arief, the materials used for ballot boxes in Indonesia are better than other countries. Mexico and Taiwan, said Arief, even use materials that are thinner than Indonesia. He confirmed that himself when he visited the two countries earlier.
"There (Mexico and Taiwan), the ballot boxes are much lighter, simpler than the watertight cardboard ballot boxes made by the Indonesian KPU. But, the elections there are not noisy, take it easy," said Arief at the Working Meeting. with the ranks of the Central Java KPU, Banyumas, Central Java, Thursday, November 29.
Apart from the ballot box question, Arief also compared the election ink issue. Abroad, everyone who has cast their vote, just put the mark on their finger. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, voters' fingers are dipped in election ink that will not disappear within a certain time.
He doesn't want any resistance like this to happen again in the future. Therefore, in front of the ranks of KPU regencies / cities in Central Java, he asked them to build public trust in the implementation of the General Election, especially the 2020 Pilkada which is about to be held.
The way is, first, to work transparently. "If people know what we are doing, then they will not think that there is something that is hidden by us. But if we work in secret, people are already suspicious," said Arief.
"If people do not believe in the implementation, they will not be trusted with the results. If they do not believe in the results, then the results will lead to conflict," he added.
Second, KPU members must work professionally. This means that the organizers of voters must understand all regulations in carrying out their work. And, the third is having integrity, which is working according to the rules.
