Tambak Manggarai Road Closed For A Year, Impact Of The Jakarta LRT Project

The Department of Transportation has partially closed Jalan Tambak near the Manggarai Water Gate due to the construction of the Jakarta LRT phase 1B Velodrome-Manggarai. Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that the closure of Jalan Tambak was carried out from 27 June 2025 to 28 February 2026.

"In connection with the construction of the Jakarta Phase 1B LRT on Jalan Tambak, Central Jakarta, the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency implemented traffic engineering around the location on 27 June 2025-28 February 2025," Syafrin said in his statement, Thursday, July 10.

Syafrin explained that the work on the structure viaduct pier P160B would partially close Tambak Street in front of Manggarai Water Gate.

"Residents affected by the work can still pass through one lane alternately," said Syafrin.

Then, the construction of the P161B-P162B viaduct pier will close the northern side of Tambak Street which leads to the Manggarai Sluice Gate.

Thus, traffic from Dukuh Atas (west) which will go to Proclamation (east) can only use Jalan Tambak on the south side through underpass. Road widening is carried out to the median side of the road due to lane narrowing.

For information, the 1B phase of the Jakarta LRT has a 6.4 kilometer long track span which has 5 stations, namely Rawamangun Youth Station, BPKP Scout Station, Matraman Station, and Manggarai Station.

So far, as many as 6 LRT stations have operated with a length of 5.2 kilometers in phase 1, namely Pegangsaan Dua, North Boulevard Station, South Boulevard Station, Pulomas Station, Equestrian Station, and Velodrome Station.

So, if the 1B phase has been built, the Jakarta LRT has a route length of 12.2 kilometers with 11 stations ranging from Pegangsaan Dua Station to Manggarai Station.

It is estimated that the journey from Pegangsaan Dua to Manggarai can be reached for 26 minutes. After the 1B phase is operational, it is hoped that it can serve up to 100,000 passengers per day.
