Sundari Soekotjo To Didik Nini Thowok Gives Training To Young Artists Through The Maestro Learning Program

JAKARTA - The Maestro's Joint Learning Program (BBM) was again presented by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkebud RI) to provide experience for young artists from Universities in Indonesia in learning arts directly from experts.

Meanwhile, the maestros involved in this program are Sundari Soekotjo (keroncong singer), Didik Nini Thowok (dari and choreographer), Ki Purbo Asmoro (dalang), Gus tf Sakai (penyair), Nasirun (citi), and Iman Soleh (the theater arts).

Minister of Culture (Menbud) Fadli Zon said this movement aims to enrich the learning experience of young artists through direct interactions with maestros.

"We expect follow-up for young talents, apart from gaining substantive knowledge and practice, we hope they will also gain insight," said Fadli Zon after the launch of the fuel program at the Kemendikbudristek Complex, Central Jakarta on Wednesday, July 9.

Through the fuel program, said Fadli, the participants will undergo a residence in a designated place for about three weeks. They can see firsthand how the maestros live their daily lives.

"So later they will spend days with the maestros at their house or at their workshop or at the pavilion, or in a predetermined place," said Fadli.

60 people participated in the fuel, which was the result of a rigorous selection from 573 registrants spread across 31 provinces.

They were chosen from a number of students who registered. Because quite a lot, then selected, which is considered to have more capacity, capability, and talent than others," said the Minister of Culture.

Fadli said this program is getting bigger and is expected to involve more parties with the aim of producing a generation capable of maintaining the nation's culture in the midst of the swift currents of globalization.

"We want more parties to be involved: local governments, communities, the private sector, all must work together to advance national culture," he said.

In addition to fuel, the Ministry of Education and Culture has also inaugurated the School Entrance Artists Movement (GSMS), a program where artists provide art lessons to school students.
