Ada Kaitan Dengan Elon Musk, Alasan Batalnya Pencalonan Jared Isaacman Sebagai Pimpinan NASA Terungkap

JAKARTA - Jared Isaacman, a billionaire and pilot trained in the US, was nominated as NASA's administrator before being canceled by President Donald Trump. Now it has been revealed the reason for the cancellation.

Previously, many believed that Isaacman would be elected as NASA's next leader. Apart from Isaacman's success in qualifying at various stages of selection, Trump seems very interested in the non-professional astronaut.

However, shocking news emerged on May 31, 2025. The White House stated that they withdrew Isaacman on the nomination list. This was done after Isaacman entered the interview stage.

At the time, White House Spokesman Liz Huston said that, "It is imperative that the next NASA leader be fully aligned with the America First President Trump agenda." It did not explain in detail the reasons behind the cancellation.

After several months had passed, Trump finally revealed the situation that caused Isaacman to stop being nominated. Apparently, this is still related to Elon Musk, the number one person who supported Trump during the presidential candidacy period.

Trump said Musk asked Isaacman, his close friend, to lead NASA. Initially, Trump was fine with the idea. However, over time, Trump just found out that Isaacman was a 'blue-blooded terrorist'.

Trump said he was surprised to learn about this and said that Isaacman had never contributed to Republicans before. Another thing that led Trump to cancel Isaacman's candidacy was the billionaire's closeness to Musk.

As Elon Musk's best friend, Isaacman is considered inappropriate in leading NASA. The reason is, SpaceX owned by Musk is often involved in commercial missions with NASA. The closeness of the two may be able to cause problems in the future.

"Elon may too," Trump added. "I also think it would be inappropriate for a close friend of Elon, who is in the space business, to lead NASA, even though NASA is a big part of Elon's corporate life."
