Minister Of ATR/BPN Responds To Koster Which Denies Foreigners Dominate Small Islands In Bali
JAKARTA - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid responded to the statement of Bali Governor I Wayan Koster who said there was no small island outside the main island of Bali controlled by foreign parties.
According to Koster, only a lot of foreign investors open businesses or have housing on several small islands of Bali.
Nusron said that legally there are no islands in Bali or West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). However, in practice in the field, the physical control of foreigners remains.
"Indeed, if you look at the certificate, it doesn't exist, in Bali or NTB. However, it is physically controlled by foreigners. So for example, if he is married using a nominee, if not, then cooperate with foreigners," said Nusron when met by the media crew at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 9.
According to Nusron, there are actually no problems related to this. It's just that, he said, if you look at the context of sovereignty and the management of the outer islands in Indonesia, it is necessary to emphasize that the majority share ownership must be Indonesian.

"That's why in the future, when we talk about sovereignty, we want to regulate it. We propose that if there are outer islands, they want to cooperate with investors, if possible, the majority of shareholders will be familiar. The majority are still Indonesians or the Indonesian government," he said.
Previously, Bali Governor I Wayan Koster stated that no small island in Bali was owned by foreigners. According to him, the presence of foreigners on several islands is only limited as investors who build tourism facilities such as villas and hotels.
Koster also ensured that investment by foreigners was carried out according to procedures and the local government had formed a team to regulate violations.
