Kemenpora Launches Sports LPDP Scholarship
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) officially launched a scholarship program for the Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP) for strata-2 (S2) levels for active athletes and former athletes.
The launch was carried out by the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo, the Ministry of Finance, and the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno at the Media Center of the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
"These LPDP students are not only for active athletes, but also for former athletes. This is their provision of life after they no longer compete, as well as pave the way for new careers in sports science, sports management, and public policy," said Dito.
This program is a strategic step for the Government in improving the welfare of sports people, especially after they enter retirement.

The Minister of Youth and Sports emphasized that this program is a real commitment of the Government to continue to pay attention to the future of athletes.
"LPDP is an unlimited scholarship, it can be used to study in the world's best universities. We want all sports stakeholders to respond positively and encourage former athletes to take advantage of it," he said.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports together with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) are currently also preparing a scholarship scheme for the strata-1 (S1) level specifically for athletes.
Dito hopes that this program will soon be launched to expand access to education for young people who excel in the field of sports.
"We are currently formulating S1 students with the Ministry of Education and Culture. We want to open more formal education channels for athletes from an early age," he said.
In addition, the Ministry of Youth and Sports is also designing a long-term strategy to strengthen national sports development through an educational approach.
One concrete step is to encourage the re-arrival of sports schools in various regions in Indonesia.
Dito believes that sports schools will be an important basis in producing a generation of athletes who are not only physically superior, but also have strong academic quality and character.
"The government wants to form a superior generation that has high sportsmanship, from upstream to downstream, including in the preparation of the national curriculum in the field of sports."
"In this way, we hope that education and sports can go hand in hand," he said.
