Poland Reports Musk's Grok Chatbot To The EU On Offensive Comments
JAKARTA Poland will report Elon Musk's xAI to the European Commission after chatbot Grok made offensive comments about Polish politicians, including Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
The issue of political bias, hate speech, and accuracy of AI chatbots has been of concern since at least the launch of ChatGPT from OpenAI in 2022.
Grok on Tuesday, July 8, removed what he called an "inappropriate" social media post following complaints from X and Anti-Defamation League users that Grok produced content with an antisemitary metaphor and praise for Adolf Hitler.
Earlier, a Turkish court blocked access to some of Grok's content after authorities said the chatbot resulted in an insulting response to President Tayyip Erdogan, modern Turkish founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, and religious values.
Poland's Digitalization Minister, Krzysztof Gawkowski, told RMF FM radio on Wednesday, July 9, that the government would ask Brussels to investigate the offensive chatbot's comments about their politicians.

"I have the impression that we are entering a higher level of hate speech, which is driven by the algorithm, and that turning a blind eye or ignoring this today... is a mistake that may harm humanity in the future," he said.
"The Ministry of Digitalization will react in accordance with applicable regulations, we will report the violation to the European Commission for investigation and the possibility of imposing fines on X. Freedom of speech belongs to humans, not artificial intelligence."
The chatbot developer, xAI, did not immediately respond to an email request for comment.
