Kremlin Skeptic About Trump's Voice Recording Threatens Moscow Bomb

JAKARTA - The Kremlin claims to doubt the truth of CNN's news that reported US President Donald Trump had threatened to bomb Moscow to prevent Russian President Vladimir Putin from attacking Ukraine.

CNN reports citing Trump's audio footage telling donors private gatherings amid his pre-election campaign in 2024, he had warned Putin that he would "bomb all over Moscow" if Russia attacked Ukraine.

"I can't confirm or deny it, though I want to. Whether it's fake or not, we also don't know. There's been a lot of fake news lately," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

CNN reports did not say when Trump would be reported to have made a threatening statement about Moscow bombing Putin.

The Washington Post reported Trump had spoken to Putin by telephone last November - after he won the presidential election but before returning to the White House - and warned him not to make escalations in Ukraine. The Kremlin dismissed the phone call report as "real fictition."

The first recognized phone call between the two men this year took place on February 12.

Trump, who promised to end the war in Ukraine soon, has grown increasingly frustrated with Putin in recent months as the conflict continues to drag on.

He directed his anger at the Kremlin leader during a meeting with his cabinet officials at the White House on Tuesday, saying, "We received a lot of nonsense from Putin."

Trump also said he was considering imposing additional sanctions on Moscow.

CNN reported Trump also said it had delivered a similar warning to Chinese President Xi Jinping about a potential invasion of Taiwan, telling him the United States would bomb Beijing in return.
