2025 Journalist Film Festival: Remembering Wina Armada Sukardi, Reviving Criticism Of Indonesian Films

JAKARTA - The 2025 Journalist Film Festival (FFW) was officially launched with a burning new spirit. This 15th edition is a special tribute to the late Wina Armada Sukardi, the President of FFW who has just died. The figure of Vienna is known as an important figure who encourages the existence of film journalists as critics as well as guardians of national film quality.

"Mas Wina's departure is not the end, but a call to continue her struggle. FFW 2025 will be held with integrity, ensuring that all film assessments are carried out fairly and transparently," said Benny Benke, Chair of the 2025 Journalist Film Festival Committee, at a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday 9 July.

This year, the 2025 Journalist Film Festival presents a number of flagship programs as a form of appreciation for the dedication of Wina Armada Sukardi to the Indonesian film world. Some of them are:

The Journalist Film Festival is not just an award event. Since its inception, FFW was present as a critical platform involving film journalists as part of the film ecosystem. They are quality guards, public voice carriers, and Indonesian film narratives.

Support also came from the Director of Film, Music and Media of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Syaifullah Agam, Ph.D., who emphasized that the 2025 FFW will be a historic moment in the world of national films.

"The spirit of Vienna will continue to live in every discussion, screening, and award held by FFW. This is not only a film festival, but a celebration of the noble values of Indonesian cinema," he said.

The Peak Of The 2025 Journalist Film Festival Held November

The series of 2025 Journalist Film Festival activities will last until November, closed with the night of the awarding of the best films as a result of journalists' assessments from various media. The implementation of this year's FFW has again received full support from the Directorate of Film, Music and Media of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, affirming the country's commitment to building a healthy and inclusive film ecosystem.
