How To Communicate Yusril Highlighted After Calling Gibran Will Have An Office In Papua, Prabowo's Cabinet Is Considered Not Solid
JAKARTA - Public policy observer Trubus Rahadiansyah highlighted the communication method of the Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, who was deemed inappropriate in informing about Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka assigned by President Prabowo Subianto to have an office in Papua, in order to accelerate development in Indonesia's easternmost province.
Moreover, Yusril then clarified his statement by saying that Gibran would not have an office and even moved to Papua, after the news was refuted by the Minister of Home Affairs, Tiro Karnavian.
Trubus assessed that clarifying the two assistant ministers of President Prabowo showed that the Red and White Cabinet lacked coordination and was not solid. Moreover, Yusril and Tito are only a minister who should have left the Presidential Communication Office (PCO).
"If I see what Mr. Yusril said, the communication method is not right because it has a broad impact. At first he said Gibran was based in Papua, even though Yusril was only a minister, and what he conveyed was (about) the vice president. Is it right for him to convey? There is a kind of violation of the ethics of state administrators, Gibran is vice president," Trubus told VOI, Wednesday, July 9.
"Second, Yusril then corrected (information, ed) which had actually been preceded by the Minister of Home Affairs Tito who said that (who is based in Papua) was the Secretariat of the agency," he continued.
It is known that Vice President Gibran was also assigned as Chair of the Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development in Papua, which was formed based on Article 68A of Law Number 2 of 2021 concerning Special Autonomy for Papua.
According to Trubus, Yusril and Tito's statement indicated that there was no coordination between the ministries. So that there is an impression that each Prabowo minister creates his own image, and is not solid in terms of information collection submitted to the public.
"So in my opinion, each of them has its own role and impact, then the public sees it as if Mr. Yusril has exceeded his authority and has his own ambitions so that the vice president is not solid," said Trubus.
"But then on the other hand, Mr. Tito was also too far away by giving a counter to Mr. Yusril, who I saw the two sides preced each other," he added.
Trubus said that Yusril and Tito's attitude could harm President Prabowo because the order of the head of state should be written through the Presidential Decree, not informing directly to the public even without going through PCO.
"So this is a confusion. I see that this PCO should also communicate so that it is clear what the president wants. I wonder why, without coordination with PCO, he informed this," said Trubus.
Trubus then questioned the role of Cabinet Secretary, Lt. Col. Teddy Indra Wijaya, who should have been able to coordinate the ranks of the KMP ministers. He suggested that Seskab evaluate the ministers so that in the future information about the government would come out through one door.
"Everything should be under the swab, yes, where all information related to the government is more in line. In my opinion, there must be an evaluation and role of the Cabinet," said Trubus.
"But indeed, it seems that this cabinet is less solid. It should be under the authority of all of you, sir, but as much as possible it is everywhere to accompany the president. So this (kabinet) seems like it is going its own way," he concluded.
