The Number Of Indonesian Athletes For The 2025 SEA Games Is Determined In August

JAKARTA - The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo, said that it is possible that the number of Indonesian athletes for the 2025 SEA Game will be determined next month.

Thailand as the organizer had previously released the number of athletes participating at the end of June 2025. They said Indonesia would send 1,548 athletes to the biennial event.

Dito said that the number was not final. He emphasized that currently his party is still conducting a review before determining how many athletes will depart.

"Not yet (final). For departure to the 2025 SEA Games, we are currently still reviewing. For the third stage, we have even reviewed it for the national training," he said.

The number of athletes announced by the organizers places Indonesia as the third largest contingent of a total of 11 event participants involving countries in Southeast Asia.

Thailand as the host occupies the first position with a total of 1,807 athletes. Then in second place there was Malaysia who sent 1,580 athletes.

"To determine the number of athletes, there will be a meeting with the expert team and the review team again. This is already July 2025, so maybe the finalization of the number of athletes will be carried out in August 2025," said Dito.

If you refer to the data from the organizers, a total of 12,506 athletes will take part in the 2025 SEA Games.

In addition to athletes, 6,253 officials from all participating countries will also be involved in accompanying their respective contingents.

Currently, the contingent registration process has entered the entry by number stage. Then the next stage is entry by name which is set until the deadline for September 1, 2025. The draw for the team sports will be held on October 18, 2025.

The 33rd edition of the SEA Games in Thailand will take place on 9-20 December 2025. This event will be held in three major cities, namely Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla.
