If It's Headquartered In Papua, Vice President Gibran: I'm Ready To Be Assigned To Anyone

JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Gibran Rakabuming Raka stated that he is ready to carry out the task of leading the acceleration of development in Papua.

"As an assistant to the president, I am ready to be assigned anywhere, anytime, and this is continuing the hard work of Vice President Ma'ruf Amin on the Papua issue," said Gibran in Klaten, Central Java, Wednesday, July 9, confiscated by Antara.

As with the video recording received in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 9, Gibran said that his assignment was a continuation of the efforts made by the 13th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma'ruf Amin.

Gibran explained that his involvement in the Papua issue was nothing new.

The Vice President said that the ranks at the Secretariat of the Vice President (Setwapres) who were under his coordination had often carried out various activities in Papua.

Among them are sending school equipment, laptops, and checking the readiness of the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program in a number of areas in Papua, such as Sorong and Merauke.

The vice president also emphasized that he is ready to carry out the task whenever and anywhere.

"We as assistants to the president are ready to be assigned anywhere, anytime. And now we are waiting for the next order. We are ready, we are ready," said Gibran.

"For example, the presidential decree (presidential decision) has not yet been issued, I am also ready at any time," he added.

Regarding the technical implementation of the task, Gibran called himself flexible in terms of work locations.

The vice president said he could have an office anywhere, both in Jakarta, the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), and in Papua.

"If I can have an office anywhere. It could be in Jakarta, in Kebon Sirih, it could be at IKN if December is finished, it could be in Papua, it could also be in Klaten in Central Java. Wherever we make an office," said Gibran.

According to him, this is in line with the commitment as an assistant to the president who must often go to the regions, have a dialogue with various parties, and open space for input and evaluation.

"Because for me, once again as an assistant to the president, you have to go to the regions often, have to have frequent dialogues with business actors like earlier, receive input, receive criticism, any evaluation. So, you can have an office anywhere, you can meet with residents, that's the most important thing," he said.

Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra emphasized that Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka would not have an office in Papua, but at the Secretariat of the Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development. In Article 68A of the Papua Special Autonomy Law, it is regulated about the existence of a Special Agency to synchronize, harmonize, evaluate, and coordinate the implementation of Papua Special Autonomy.

It is said that the Special Agency has been formed by the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo with Presidential Regulation Number 121 of 2022, but various regulations related to the formation of the agency could be revised according to the need to further accelerate the development of Papua.

Yusril explained that the Special Committee for Steering for the Acceleration of Papua Special Autonomy Development was chaired by the Vice President and consisted of the Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of National Development Planning (PPN)/Head of Bappenas, Minister of Finance, and one representative from each province in Papua.

It is stated that further provisions regarding the agency will be regulated by government regulations (PP), where there is a possibility that the existing agency implementing secretariat and personnel structure will be reorganized according to PP as needed and developed.

Thus, continued Yusril, the head of Papua is the executive secretariat and personnel of the Special Agency chaired by the Vice President.
