Russian Foreigners Who Show Off To Enter Indonesia Without Quarantine Claim To Be Happy At Wisma Atlet, Can Swim

DENPASAR - Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Bali, Jamaruli Manihuruk emphasized that a Russian foreigner named Elena Butuzova (49) claimed to have entered Indonesia without undergoing quarantine was actually undergoing quarantine at Wisma Atlet Jakarta.

Elena arrived in Indonesia via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on April 21. She then underwent quarantine at Wisma Atlet.

Jamaruli explained, based on a travel recommendation letter issued from Wisma Atlet, Russian foreigners could travel because they tested negative for COVID-19. Elena then flew to Bali on April 25.

"She is being quarantined at Wisma Atlet in Jakarta", said Jamaruli during a press conference at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Denpasar, Bali, Wednesday, May 5.

According to Jamaruli, the upload on Instagram has gone viral on social media because of a language translation error. This Russian foreigner thought that the COVID-19 quarantine in Indonesia would be placed in a small room with restricted activities.

"But the truth is that she is undergoing quarantine, her image is for example in Singapore. I heard that in Singapore (quarantine) is in a small room and can only enter food", said Jamaruli.

While at Wisma Atlet, this Russian foreigner did not leave the quarantine process. In her confession, Elena said that quarantine in Indonesia could be a moment like traveling.

"No (she left) she was only at Wisma Atlet. So one of the advantages for us is that she is far away. She had said that it turned out that there was a quarantine as a tour. This is the time to take a trip during the COVID-19 period", he explained.

In addition, Elena explained to the officers that she could swim at Wisma Atlet. For Elena, this is a lot of fun.

"At Wisma Atlet, she can freely swim there. Therefore, being free there is considered not a quarantine, even she said she was happy with the condition", said Jamaruli.

Previously, the post of Russian foreigners on their Instagram account @lena_butuzov_a was viral because they claimed to have successfully entered Indonesia without having to undergo quarantine for five days.
