Erick Thohir Says Pertamina-Garuda Managing Director Joins The US To Negotiate Import Tariffs Of 32 Percent
JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir confirmed that state-owned companies were involved as supporters of the Indonesian negotiating team to reach an agreement regarding the reciprocal import rate of the President of the United States (US), Donald Trump.
The representatives of state-owned companies who participated in the Indonesian to US negotiating team led by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, namely the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Simon Aloysius Mantiri and the President Director of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, Deputy Military Commander Tsani Panjaitan.
"Yes, please (go there). Because he supports the system to maintain transactions," said Erick at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 8.
Erick explained that Garuda Indonesia was involved in continuing the aircraft procurement agreement with Boeing. He said Garuda had a new contract with the US aircraft manufacturer.
"Including the procurement of airplanes, which we are still lacking," he explained.
Meanwhile, Pertamina, continued Erick, is related to imports of crude oil from the US, which has been only LPG.
"Earlier, the purchase of oil, crude oil," said Erick.
Erick said that not only SOEs invited by the government to support negotiations with the US government, but also private entrepreneurs, such as PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk, and a number of associations.
"Not only from SOEs, there are many private sectors. Some are from Indofood, some are from FKS, then some are from associations," he said.
