TECNO Steals Attention, Shows Off Tri-Fold Smartphone Phantom Ultimate G Fold

Jakarta TECNO seems to want to steal the attention of Samsung by teasing the public through the latest three-folding screen concept called the Phantom Ultimate G Fold. This device appears to be the enhanced version of Phantom Ultimate 2 which was first introduced in 2024 and exhibited at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025.

While Samsung is preparing to host the Galaxy Unpacked event tomorrow, which is believed to introduce its first triple phone, TECNO chose a strategic time to showcase the Phantom Ultimate G Fold concept to the public.

Although TECNO has not released an official photo yet, a leaked image of the well-known technology tipster @UniverseIce shows the initial shape of the triplet phone. Unlike Phantom Ultimate 2, which uses a screen panel that folds inside and another outside, this new concept folds both screen panels in a deep direction, similar to the G-fold design approach formulated by Samsung for the Galaxy G Fold.

TECNO said that the Phantom Ultimate G Fold supports multi-angle hosting, which is a flexible folding position like a notebook, allowing users to enjoy various functions without the need to hold the device. This feature adds practical value when used in hands-free mode.

In terms of resilience, the design of folding inwards is claimed to protect the screen more than the Huawei Mate XT, which carries one fold inside and one outside makes the screen more prone to scratches and damage as it falls.

In terms of appearance, the TECNO Phantom Ultimate G Fold carries a silver dollar frame and the white back, reminiscent of the design of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The rear camera also adopts a Pixel-style horizontal bar, in contrast to the vertical camera design on Phantom Ultimate 2.

Currently, Huawei is the only brand that has commercially sold tri-fold phones, albeit only in limited markets. Samsung is expected to announce the launch date of the Galaxy G Fold in conjunction with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 debuts at the Unpacked event tomorrow.

Meanwhile, TECNO is rumored to be fully revealing the Phantom Ultimate G Fold in mid-July. Even so, commercial launches don't seem to be happening anytime soon.

With this move, TECNO is clearly trying to emphasize its position in the foldable screen technology competition map and apparently, they are not just following in
