BYD Makes History In Thailand, Successfully Sends 90 Thousand Vehicles From Local Factory

JAKARTA - BYD has gained success in Thailand as well as reached a milestone in the new shipment history in the White Elephant country, when its local factory marked a year of operation.

Quoting from the CNevpost page, Tuesday, July 8, BYD managed to send vehicles to 90,000 thousand units in Thailand through MPV Denza D9, which is a premium sub brand.

BYD itself officially entered the Thai market in 2022, initially the brand sold vehicles through import schemes, and in the following year it began construction of its factory in Thailand.

On July 4, 2024, the plant began production, with the first Thai-made BYD vehicle leaving the assembly line, marking the company's 8 millionth vehicle globally.

The plant has an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles and is BYD's first foreign passenger vehicle factory. The models currently being produced include Dolphin and Seal, which are fully electric, and Atto 3.

Meanwhile, Thailand BYD has sold 21,458 vehicles in the first five months of this year, up 66.5 percent year-on-year, according to data from market research firm MarkLines.

BYD Factory In Indonesia

BYD juga mulai membangun pabrik di Indonesia, nantinya berbagai model yang sudah dijual juga akan dirakit lokal. Lokasi pabriknya di Subang Smartpolitan, Jawa Barat, dan ditargetkan mulai berproduksi komersial pada awal tahun 2026. Factory ini akan menjadi fasilitas produksi otomotif terbesar BYD di ASEAN.

The BYD plant in Subang Smartpolitan will occupy 108 hectares of land in the Phase 2 area, with an expansion plan of up to 126 hectares. In addition to production facilities, BYD will also build research centers, development, and training in the area.
