Central Jakarta Police Will Disperse Residents Who Are Reckless To Takbir

JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta Police stated that they would disband people who were determined to hold a traveling takbir (the night before welcoming the Eid al-Fitr).

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Hengki Haryadi when Apel Holds Ketupat Jaya 2021, Operation Force, at Silang Monas Square, Central Jakarta, emphasized that his party was prohibiting takbir people from traveling because the activity invited a crowd.

"Nothing, no traveling takbir, which is a crowd. So in this pandemic phase, there are specific things, putting other people in dangerous situations is a criminal act", said Hengki after leading the rally, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 5.

Hengki explained that all actions that cause crowds can be classified as criminal acts.

Crowd offenders during the COVID-19 pandemic can be convicted, by Law No. 6/2018 on Health Quarantine.

"All (the crowd) whatever it is, including demonstrations that violate health protocols, we will disband", said Hengki.

In the event of Eid al-Fitr, as many as 1,500 joint personnel from the TNI, Police, and Central Jakarta City Government were deployed to provide security in Operation of Ketupat Jaya 2021.

Joint personnel is prepared to carry out security for 12 days, starting from 5-16 May 2021.

They will be placed in seven posts spread across the Central Jakarta area, such as community service centers and economic centers, including Tanah Abang Market.

"Operation Ketupat this year was carried out to suppress the spread of COVID-19. Do not let the phase on this feast become an increase in the spike of COVID-19 cases", said Hengki.
