Paolini Separates From Coach Marc Lopez After Early Fall At Wimbledon

JAKARTA The world number four, Jasmine Paolini, announced her separation from coach Marc Lopez just days after being knocked out in the second round of Wimbledon 2025.

Paolini, who last year made history as the first Italian player in the Open era to reach the Wimbledon final, had to lift the suitcase earlier this year after losing to Russian player Kamilla Rakhimova, with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Through uploads on social media on Monday, July 7, Paolini said that although he and Lopez had achieved a number of brilliant results, including the WTA 1000 title at the Italian Open and the women's doubles trophy in the French Open, she decided to look for a new direction.

"We achieved extraordinary results together, especially in Rome and Paris," wrote Paolini. I really appreciate Marc's hard work and dedication every day. Now, after this part of the season ends, I decide to make changes.

The 29-year-old began working with Lopez in April 2025, after ending his 10-year partnership with coach Renzo Furlan. Lopez himself is a former world number three doubles player and has been part of coach Rafael Nadal's team.

"I learned a lot and made great progress. Now is the time for me to reflect on the next step. Thank you once again, Marc, for everything," added Paolini in his statement.
