KPK Names Suspect In Road Project Bribery Case In North Sumatra Working On Projects In Other Regions

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that PT Dalihan Notulu Group (DNG) led by M. Akhirun Efendi Siregar (KIR) also worked on projects in other areas in North Sumatra Province.

KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said the findings were obtained after investigators searched the offices of the company and the house of Akhirun in Padang Sidempuan City, North Sumatra last week. Documents and financial records were found there.

Endun is one of five suspects in the bribery case for road construction projects at the PUPR Service and PJN Satker Region 1 North Sumatra.

He was appointed with the Head of PUPR Office of North Sumatra Province Topan Obaja Putra Ginting or Typhoon Ginting who had been removed from his position.

"There is information that KIR is also working on projects in the Madina area, Mandailing Natal," Budi told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, July 7.

This finding also made investigators search the office of the Mandailing Natal City PUPR Office. However, Budi has not been able to specify what projects are being carried out by the company Akhirun.

"We have not been able to convey the type yet, but the area is suspected that KIR is working on projects other than the provincial PUPR Service, also working on projects at PUPR Padang City Sidempuan and in Mandailing Natal Regency," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK held a hand arrest operation (OTT) in the North Sumatra region on Thursday, June 26. It is suspected that money was given in the road construction project in the province.

From this activity, five people were finally named as suspects. They are the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Service (PUPR) Topan Obaja Putra Ginting or Topan Ginting; Effendi Siregar Rasul as the Head of the UPTD Gunung Tua North Sumatra Province PUPR Service concurrently the Commitment Making Officer (PPK); Heliyanto as PPK PJN Satker Region I North Sumatra Province; M. Akhirun Efendi Siregar as the President Director of PT DNG; and M. Rayhan Dulasmi PIlang as the Director of PT RN.

The Typhoon was inaugurated as Head of PUPR on February 24 by the Governor of North Sumatra Bobby Nasution. He previously served as Head of the Public Works Service or the Department of Water Resources, Highways and Construction Development of Medan City and had sat as Acting (Plt) Medan City Secretary when the son-in-law of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia sat as Mayor of Medan.

Setelah ditetapkan jadi tersangka, Topan bersama empat orang lainnya akan ditahan di Rutan KPK. Upaya paksa ini dilaksanakan selama 20 hari pertama dan akan diperpanjang sesuai kebutuhan penyidik.
