Mexican Striker Pays Respect To Diogo Jota After Cocacaf Gold Cup Champion

JAKARTA - The striker of the National Team (Timnas)Meksiko, Raul Jimenez, paid tribute to his former teammate, Diogo Jota, after scoring a goal against the United States in the 2025 Concaf Gold Cup final.

Jota died with his brother, Andre Silva, in a car accident near Zamora, Spain, on Thursday, July 3, 2025, early in the morning local time.

Jimenez, who played for two seasons at Wolverhampton Wanderers with Jota from 2018 to 2020, scored in the 27th minute.

The goal helped Mexico win the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup title after a 2-1 win over the United States, Monday, July 7, 2025 WIB.

During his celebration, he grabbed a Mexican T-shirt with the name Jota and her back number 20 before sitting on the pitch and showing the t-shirt to the camera.

The ceremony of honor and burial for Jota and his brother was held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, morning local time, in Gondopmar, Portugal.

During the conference ahead of the final, Jimenez said Jota was a great teammate for two years at Wolves.

"I've always been in touch with him. We share a very beautiful moment," said Jimenez.

Apart from that, Mexico's victory was the 10th Concacaf Gold Cup title.
