Xiaomi Will Stop Using Leica Cameras, These Are The Phones That Will Be Affected
JAKARTA Xiaomi will stop using the Leica camera on its newest flagship phone. This happens because the partnership between the two will end in the near future.
According to a Xiaomitime report, the smartphone developer from China will develop the camera independently. The breakdown of this partnership shows that Xiaomi has trusted its internal Research and Research (RnD) team.
With the discontinued use of cameras from Leica, a German company, Xiaomi can cut the cost of producing its cellphones. Leica's license per cellphone is known to reach 3 US dollars (IDR 48 thousand) to 5 dollars (IDR 81 thousand).
This contract termination not only has an impact on Xiaomi brands, but also on brands under Xiaomi such as Redmi and POCO. Here are some phones that will lose support for the Leica camera.

The funds previously used to pay Leica will be allocated for device improvement purposes. The company will improve the photography capabilities of its phones while improving sensor technology in it.
In addition, Xiaomi will add its cellphone battery capacity and update its screen design. The company is also determined to bring superior features into its phone, including advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based features.
Xiaomi will be the second company to break a partnership with Leica. Previously, Leica had collaborated with Huawei. This partnership also lasted quite a long time, up to six years since 2016.
