Thousands Of Dancers And Pesilat Enliven Jakarta In Color

JAKARTA - The weekend in Jakarta was again enlivened with a lively culture in the 'Jakarta Dalam Warna' event which took place in the Hotel Indonesia (HI) roundabout area.

This event became a magnet for residents of the capital who enjoyed Motor Vehicle Free Day (HBKB), or better known as Car Free Day.

That morning, the atmosphere of the Sudirman area, Thamrin, turned into a colossal stage for Betawi and Nusantara culture, combining art performances with the spirit of togetherness of Jakarta residents.

Thousands of fighters and dancers from various universities and studios looked stunning at the venue. They present a variety of attractions that not only entertain, but also inspire pride in Indonesia's cultural heritage. Pesilats have shown their skills in breaking bricks and iron plates, attracting the attention of visitors who have packed the area since 06.00 WIB.

Not only pencak silat and traditional dances, the atmosphere became even more lively with the presence of the famous singer Rossa who performed a number of hits. This performance is a sweet closing of a series of cultural activities that are held openly and lively.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government took advantage of the moment of the HBKB on July 6, 2025 to present the Betawi Cultural Carnival, as part of a series of celebrations of Jakarta's 498th Birthday and welcome the age of five centuries in the capital city in the coming years.

This activity will start at 07.00 am with various cultural attractions. Nearly eight thousand participants were involved, from the band's marketing, pencak silat, to Betawi's musical and dance performances," said Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Rano Karno, on Thursday, July 3.

According to Rano, this carnival also holds an interesting potential for visual documentation. He even plans to collect photo documentation from various Jakarta arts and cultural activities to be used as a catalog or visual book.

This area is very worthy of being immortalized. We start collecting documentation, at least it could be an archive or catalog of Jakartan culture going forward," he explained.

He also added that the Jakarta cultural agenda in the coming year will be more congested, but currently his party is still in the process of collecting visual data as an initial step in planning a more mature cultural calendar.
