Ministry Of Social Affairs: Permanent People's School Ready To Be Built In Bandung Regency

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) stated that the location of the permanent People's School which is ready to be built in West Java in 2025, one of which is in Ciwidey, Bandung Regency.

Secretary of the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Idit Supriadi Priatna, said that the People's School in Ciwidey will later become a permanent location for schools for the poor in Bandung Regency, replacing facilities that are now being prepared at the Si Jalak Harupat Complex.

"What is ready, among others, this year is not wrong in Bandung Regency, namely in Ciwidey. The temporary school (for Bandung Regency) is now in Jalak Harupat. Later it will be built in Ciwidey and currently there are several in West Java Province to prepare land," said Idit in Bandung, quoted by Antara, Sunday, July 6.

Prospective People's Schools in Ciwidey, said Idit, have met several required requirements, including having a land area of at least 6-7 hectares, land contours that have been flat or cannot exceed 10 degrees, legality documents of the land are clear and clean.

"Then Sutet should not go through, and should not be close to the river, so there are several conditions," he said without further explaining the location of the details of the People's School in Ciwidey.

He told the People's School is permanent, it will consist of various levels ranging from elementary, junior high, and high school in one complex, but different buildings.

"It will be separated, not combined, it is also to avoid later there will be no bullying and so on. The main thing will be that everything is made safe," he said.

People's schools are projected to be established in all regencies and cities in Indonesia, and now, said Idit, a survey is being conducted by the Ministry of Public Works (PU).

"Because the PU has the authority, which one deserves to be built, which one is not feasible, which one is not yet feasible," he said.

ANTARA noted that the People's School Program, which will some of which will start operating on July 14, 2025, is a boarding school that provides 100 percent free education for elementary, junior high, and high school levels.

All costs of education, accommodation, and basic needs of students are borne by the state. This program is part of the government's affirmative policy to glorify poor families and expand access to quality education for children from the lowest economic group.

Prospective students who can attend education at the People's School will be determined based on the National Sole Social and Economic Data (DTSEN), which has been integrated with Basic Educational Data (Dapodik).

Those who come from decile 1 and decile 2 or the poorest group in DTSEN are top priorities, especially children who are no longer registered in Dapodik alias dropping out of school.

The implementation of the People's School is coordinated by the Ministry of Social Affairs, while the recruitment of teachers is carried out by the State Civil Service Agency (BKN) in collaboration with the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) and the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag).

One of the things that distinguish People's Schools from conventional schools is a flexible and personal (invidual approach) learning approach. This school implements a multi entry and multi exit system, which means students can enter at any time without having to wait for the new school year and complete their education according to their own learning achievements.

The People's School Curriculum consists of three main bases:

The character and dormitory curriculum developed by the Ministry of Social Affairs.

The formal school curriculum by the Ministry of Education and Culture.

The religious education curriculum was prepared by the Ministry of Religion to strengthen the formation of characters and spiritual values.
