Mirra Andreeva Advances To The Round Of 16 Wimbledon 2025
JAKARTA Russia's young tennis player, Mirra Andreeva, stole the show again after defeating Hailey Baptist from the United States with a convincing score of 6-1, 6-3 in the third round of Wimbledon, Saturday night 5 July. This victory made him return to the round of 16, matching his previous achievement in the prestigious Grand Slam tournament.
Competing under the roof of Court One, the 18-year-old seventh seed appeared dominant and had not lost a single set in the tournament. Andreeva also recorded impressive results in doubles, with her partner Diana Shnaider, by advancing to the third half without losing the set.
"Today I'm really focused," said Andreeva, coached by former Wimbledon champion Conchita Martinez. I've watched Hailey's first game and knew it won't be easy. He has a lot of variations in his punches and his foreplay like a rocket.
Andreeva immediately won three service breaks in the first set, which only lasted 31 minutes. In the second set, Baptist, who is now ranked 55th in the world, began to find his rhythm and launched sharp attacks, especially in terms of foreplay which overwhelmed Andreeva several times.

However, Andreeva managed to save five important breaks in a 4-2 lead, before finally closing the game two games later. His screams as he secured the important game echoed throughout the arena.
Now, Andreeva, who is the top seed in the bottom half of the tournament chart, will face the winner between defending champion Barbora Krejcikova and American 10th seed Emma Navarro in the round of 16.
Andreeva's solid appearance so far underscores itself as one of the serious threats to this year's Wimbledon title.
