Leaked The Galaxy S26 Ultra Camera Disappointed, Specifications Are Still The Same As Before

JAKARTA - Ahead of its launch, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is back in the spotlight. Unfortunately, the latest leaks have actually caused disappointment among fans, especially those who hope for a big increase in the camera sector.

Information circulating suggests that Samsung will most likely return to using a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom exactly the same specifications as in the Galaxy S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra.

According to a report from the GalaxyClub quoted by SamMobile, the sensor used is a 1/2.52-inch unit with a pixel size of 0.7 euros, equipped with an autofocus of PDAF and OIS. Although it has proven tough for long-distance shooting, this specification feels less fresh for many fans who hope for something really new.

Previously, there were rumors that Samsung would equip the Galaxy S26 Ultra with a 200MP ISOCELL telephoto sensor, which would certainly be a big leap from the previous generation. However, the latest leak indicates that the company chose to maintain an old setup to reduce production costs, especially in order to offset the high price of Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and avoid an increase in selling prices in the US due to high import rates.

Samsung has not disclosed the details of the second lens, which is said to have 3.5x or even 8x zoom capabilities. If true, this could be the only significant increase in the camera sector.

For the main camera, the Galaxy S26 Ultra looks set to stick with a 200MP sensor, alongside a 50MP ultrawide camera just like its predecessor, the S25 Ultra.

Outside the camera sector, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is predicted to carry a slimmer body design, thanks to the increase in battery energy density. The battery capacity is still 5,000mAh, but room efficiency is believed to allow for a thinner shape. There is also a leak about a more sophisticated cooling system, which may allow an increase in charging speed, although there are no official details yet.

With the apparently stagnant camera specifications, the Galaxy S26 Ultra has so far not shown any major innovation in the photography sector, a less encouraging news for Samsung fans. However, with the still space for surprises in the second zoom lens and a change in body design, hope is not completely dashed.
