Ministry Of Social Affairs Funds The Provision Of The Komdigi Internet For People's Schools
The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) shares tasks with the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) in managing public schools. Specifically for Komdigi, they only focus on providing infrastructure.
Director General of Digital Infrastructure of the Ministry of Trade, Wayan Toni Supriyanto, stated that public school funding is handled by the Ministry of Social Affairs. Komdigi only focuses on providing 100 Mbps of internet in various public schools.
"So, the people's school internet has been decided to finance it by the Ministry of Social Affairs. We (Komdigi) only ensure the people's school infrastructure and maintain quality of service," Wayan said when met by reporters on Friday, July 4.
Wayan also revealed the internet capacity to be given. The institution will use fixed broadband, namely internet services that use fiber opic cables to provide household internet connections in the form of WiFi.
"Because of its need for public schools, (the service) is fixed broadband, not cellular," added Wayan. Fixed broadband is also more profitable because network connectivity is faster and more stable than mobile broadband.

People's schools are free educational programs based on boarding or dormitories. This school targets children from extreme poor and poor families for the purpose of equitable education. In this school, children will get facilities like dormitories in general.
Although the concept is dormitories, children do not need to do tests to go there. They only need to follow the administrative selection and health tests stage. If they pass the two stages and are classified as children in need, they can enter public schools.
Because people's schools are boarding schools, the government will ensure that children who attend school are in good health. If anyone has an infectious disease, they will be cured first through a partnership with the Ministry of Health.
