Komdigi: 48 Percent Of Children Have Experienced Online Bullying

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) Meutya Hafid revealed the percentage of cyberbullying in Indonesia. About 48 percent of children are reported to have been bullied online.

"From Komdigi itself, we recorded the number of bullying on the internet. (There are about) 48 percent of children who claim to have online bullying," said Meutya while attending the Private Screening Film event on Friday, July 4.

This percentage shows that the problem of online bullying or cyberbullying is very serious and needs to be handled by the government. Meutya emphasized that bad words made on the internet can have a psychological impact on children.

When asked about the level of cyberbullying that occurred, Meutya explained that this bullying occurred on various scales. However, both small and large, Komdigi is committed to continuing to overcome cyberbullying on the internet.

In essence, the birth of shows including films that support education to fight crimes on the internet, including cyberbullying, is a positive thing and we fully support it.

"Komdigi detects and takes down content containing cyberbullying. However, because this happens a lot in the realm of friendship, it is difficult to detect even though it can still be (detected)," said Meutya.

According to Meutya, another important step that needs to be taken to overcome cyberbullying is to provide education. Therefore, Komdigi supports the screening of the Cyberbullying film created by the DL Entertainment team.

"We support this film and we hope that (the release) will not only be in Jakarta, but also in various other regions in Indonesia," said Meutya.
