Opportunities To Qualify For The Special 2026 Asian Cup, The Indonesian Women's National Team Don't Want To Give Up

JAKARTA - The coach of the Indonesian Women's National Team, Satoru Mochizuki, commented on his team's 0-2 defeat to Pakistan in the second match of Group D of the 2026 Women's Asian Cup Qualification, Tuesday, July 2, 2025, at the Kelapa Dua Sports Center Stadium, Tangerang.

The coach emphasized that this moment would be a lesson to rise because he did not want his team to submit to the opponent.

"Obviously we want to win, but we lost. We still have to prepare ourselves even though it's unlikely. We are still ready."

"We don't want to bow here. We want to rise up to face the next match and events ahead," Mochizuki said after the match, quoted on Friday, July 4, 2025.

Previously, the Indonesian Women's National Team managed to win 1-0 against Kyrgyzstan. However, seeing the declining performance in the match against Pakistan, Mochizuki admitted that he would carry out an analysis.

"Analysis hasn't been fully done for this game. I want to emphasize that the rotation of the players is not because some are weaker than others."

"All our players are important. We want them to continue learning and develop. What is certain is that a lot of mistakes have occurred on the pitch, such as mispassing and control."

"We can't take over the game because it's not going well," said Mochizuki.

Mochizuki admitted that the defeat occurred due to a counter-attack and a penalty at the start of the match. He also said the players had difficulty growing.

"Our team has just been rebuilt with several new players joining. When we conceded at the start, it was difficult for us to take over the game again."

"However, here I hope players learn and advance for the next matches," said Mochizuki.

Next, the Indonesian Women's National Team will face China Taipei in the last match of Group D, Saturday, July 5, 2025.

Despite being able to win, Garuda Pertiwi's qualifying for the 2026 Asian Cup finals remains narrow.

You see, China Taipei has packed six points from two matches that have been undertaken. They also have a goal difference of +11.

Currently, the Indonesian Women's National Team is in third place in the standings with three points, the same as Pakistan's ones in second place.
