Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi instructed the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) to investigate the cause of the Tunu Pratama Jaya KMP accident that sank in the Bali Strait on Wednesday night, July 2, 2025.
"The safety of crossings is a top priority. Therefore, I have instructed the NTSC to carry out investigations related to the cause of the accident and are committed to preventing the recurrence of similar incidents," said Minister of Transportation Dudy as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 4.
For the incident, he said he instructed a joint team consisting of Basarnas, TNI/Polri, Syahbandar, KPLP, ASDP, and other related elements to continue and accelerate the search for victims.
He hopes that the search carried out can find more survivors.
However, he asked all parties to be patient, because the main focus currently being carried out is the maximum effort to search and help victims.
"We have a 'golden time' that must be used as well as possible for the search and rescue of victims of KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya. We hope to find more passengers who survived," said Dudy.
Dudy explained that the number of passengers on KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya was 53 people, while the crew was 12 people. The total number of vehicles transported is 22 units.
"Until (night Thursday) the survivors who were found by the joint team amounted to 29 people, while 6 people died," he said.
On behalf of the government, the Minister of Transportation expressed his deep condolences to the families of the victims and for the survivors, he prayed that he would be given a speedy recovery.
Regarding ship passengers who are not registered in the manifest, said Dudy, they will re-verify to confirm the truth.
"We will verify to confirm it, including whether there were passengers who survived but have not reported it," he said.
The Minister of Transportation appreciated all parties involved in the accident search and rescue process.
