Menkomdigi Meutya Directs AI Developers To Develop Beneficial Technology

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) Meutya Hafid asked Artificial Intelligence (AI) developers to pay more attention to the quality and benefits of their technology.

The directives conveyed during an audience with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) apply to the government and private sectors. The hope is that the technology that develops AI can encourage the development of a sustainable AI ecosystem.

Meutya also emphasized that collaboration between private institutions and the government is very important. Collaboration like this is believed to be the foundation for the national AI development strategy.

One form of collaboration is the partnership between Komdigi and IOH in launching the Indosat AI Experience Center in Jayapura, Papua in Me 2025. Meutya said that this collaboration helps the government in realizing technological equality.

"We are already on the step to take the lead. Now with the support of Indosat and other stakeholders, we firmly believe we can pursue and also narrow the gap in AI development in Indonesia," Meutya said, quoted on Friday, July 4.

Meutya also appreciated the Sahabat AI platform developed by IOH. This platform is considered friendly to users and can reach all levels of society.

"Of course we support the initiation of a sovereign AI factory with Sahabat AI and encourage further development by inviting many users into Sahabat AI," explained Meutya.
